Gage - Cyber Class -
Needlework has been used throughout history as a way to recognize and honor special people. Gage was created especially by Orna in honor of Gage Harper. Gage is not likely a name known to you. Gage is the beloved son of Cece Stricklin, the talented dyer behind The Thread Gatherer line of threads. Sadly, Gage died by suicide in 2019. Orna was inspired to honor Gage’s memory with this project which also honors him by using many threads from The Thread Gatherer. Cece, Orna and Shining Needle Society are all donating portions of our fees for this class to suicide prevention.
This counted geometric design will provide stitching challenges with several complex stitches. With Orna’s guidance, each of these stitches will be broken down and dissected so that students will learn the tricks of bringing out the best in each stitch. You will learn tips that you will take on with you to any projects you stitch in the future. Orna recommends this project for intermediate stitchers and the ability to read charts is a must.
The design size is approximately 11” x 11” and the project is stitched on 18-ct mono canvas (cut size: 16” x 16”). The kit includes threads, canvas and needles presented beautifully. All kits also come with color laminated Master Charts. Gage will be taught in 5 lessons. Each lesson will be accompanied by videos, written lesson pages, charts, photos. The class will also include one 2- hour Zoom session that will also be recorded for anyone who can’t make it at the scheduled time on March 1.
This piece is stitched using 39 different threads, all but one of them being silk. The luscious threads have rich hues and clever overdyes, and they come to you from Cece and The Thread Gatherer. The colors are characteristic of Orna: bold and unique with dazzling combinations.
$440 includes class, kit, and printed charts.
